RTVE reorganises digital division, focusing on production

Due to the growing importance of interactive media and multi-platform content consumption for Spain's public broadcaster RTVE, the network is to reorganise its digital content factory to increase production.


alejandrovegaThe new division will integrate LabRTVE, the former research and technical development (RTD) department and among its main goals will be strengthening international activities, defining a new business model, using efficiently RTVE's resources and defining a transversal strategy for the broadcaster's productions.

Following the reorganisation, RTVE's corporate body, which has been experiencing many changes since the new president's arrival, will also redefine the digital area's direction. The structure will be reduced and simplified and other professionals from inside the corporation will be more connected to increase flexibility.

As a result of the changes, the new area will get a new president, Alejandro Vega, who had been in charge of the RTVE A la Carta video-on-demand (VOD) service since 2011. Vega has been working for the public broadcaster http://www.rtve.es/corporacion/ since 1989 and his work related to the more technical departments, such as the multimedia direction for MotoGP coverage or interactive services. Vega will replace Ricardo Villa, one of the first directives to be dismissed after José Antonio Sánchez's appointment as RTVE's president in October.
