Series top Yomvi VOD content

Canal+'s video-on-demand (VOD) and streaming platform Yomvi has published its yearly consumption figures which reveal an increase in demand for VOD series in Spain.

With 28 million downloads during the last 12 months, Yomvi continues to lead the country's incipient VOD market together with

Yomvi has 520,000 registered subs who have downloaded an average of 53 series during the last year, meaning that series represent 46% of all content consumed on demand. Thanks to international successes such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones -Yomvi's most watched programme - series have evolved from representing 30% of consumed content last year to almost half.

Yomvi's top 20 most viewed shows is completed by Orange is the New Black, Masters of Sex, Arrox, The Blacklist, House of Lies, House of Cards, Falling Skies, Nashville, Ray Donovan, Fargo, Da Vinci's Demons, Grey's Anatomy, True Detective, Castle, The Mentalist and Believe.

Through 2014, over-the-top (OTT), streaming and video-on-demand (VOD) platforms have experienced growth in Spain, with pay-TV subs growing too.

Also, the recent approval of a strict copyright law has driven pirate and unregulated streaming sites to closure, reducing piracy rates in Spain which has been seen as one the most important factors behind the low profile of VOD and pay-TV platforms in the country.
