Movistar enriches series catalogue

Kicking-off in the new year in Spain, Movistar Series, Telefónica's recently launched video-on-demand (VOD) platform, will broadcast exclusive premieres of Manhattan and Allegiance.

movistartvMovistar Series will also add all the seasons of, among others, Mad Men, Scandal, Grey's Anatomy and Downtown Abbey, as well as the full series of Lost, Weeds and Boss. The Affair, Better Call Saul and American Crime will also premiere during the first quarter of 2015.

Manhattan, which is set in the 40s and looks at the people behind the Manhattan project which produced the first atomic bomb, has already had one season of 13 episodes broadcast and the second will premiere in the US next year.

Allegiance is a remake of Israel's series The Gordín Cell produced by the NBC, and tells the story of an American war hero who works for the CIA and doesn't know that members of his family are part of a Russian sleeper cell.

Movistar Series launched on 10 December, premiering series including Outlander, Transparent and Penny Dreadful and bringing into the Spanish VOD arena blockbusters such as Breaking Bad and The Shield.
