Malawi's first Internet streaming service Zokoma TV is expected to launch in the first week of January 2015.

The online video service has been developed by video producer Ronald Zeleza (also known as Ron Cz) to promote locally made content and the country's growing urban music industry.

"Zokoma TV has a website where people will be able to stream and download Malawian videos. It will also have programmes which people can watch and get entertained," Zeleza told the Nyasa Times.

The Zokoma TV website will also offer entertainment news, fashion, celebrity gossip and much more, according to Zeleza.

Presenters and cameramen will cover events in the country's three cities: Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

"In terms of videos, artists will have to download a release form on the TV's website, which they will have to sign upon reading their requirements to get their video on the network," Zelza added.

A pre-launch show was held at a nightclub in Blantyre at the end of December, featuring many of the city's urban musicians.
