Box TV has signed new distribution deals in Nigeria and South Africa which sees the UK-based music television network spread its reach across Africa.

The deals, with Continental Satellite and African Cable Television in Nigeria, and South Africa's Siyaya free-to-air network and Mobile TV, marks what Box TV calls a "significant step in the music TV network's international expansion".

Box TV, which is jointly owned by the UK's Channel 4 Television and Bauer Group, will provide viewers in these countries with Box Africa, Kiss, Kerrang!, Smash Hits and Magic, and hopes to add more channels next year.

"Box TV has now become a truly international brand, bringing music from the hottest artists in the world to fans across the globe. We pride ourselves on innovative and engaging programming and we're delighted to be extending across new African territories. In doing so, we're bringing people around the world closer together through their shared love of music," said Julie Wright, business development and commercial director, Box TV.
