The Epix cable network – a joint venture between Viacom, Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount Pictures – has hired Disney Studios veteran Jocelyn Diaz as EVP of original programming.
Diaz has more than 12 years experience. In her previous role as VP of production at Disney, she oversaw all aspects of live-action feature development and production, including Into the Woods and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Prior to that, she was head of drama series and VP at HBO, where she managed pilot and series launches for Boardwalk Empire and Big Love. She also worked on Lost, Ugly Betty, Pushing Daisies, NYPD Blue, The Practice and the Drew Carey Show while at ABC.
Epix has focused on proprietary documentaries and niche programming, but is looking to expand its focus.
"With Jocelyn on board, we're going to be able to take this to a new level with original scripted series that resonate with our viewers," CEO Mark Greenberg said.
