Spanish public broadcasters RTVE and UK pay-TV network Sky have clinched distribution deals with beIN Media Group in order to broadcast Qatar's World Handball Championship for men, kicking off today (15 January).
handballThe beIN group, which owns the World Cup rights and is in charge of distributing them across the globe, has announced both deals, which will take the best handball action to Spain's free-to-air (FTA) TV and the UK's pay-TV.
Following the Spanish national team, which won the last World Championship two years ago, RTVE is to exploit the rights on its sports channel Teledeporte and La 1 channel, the corporation's main channel.
Sky will show live television coverage of one game per day during next two weeks up to the final, which is to be held on 1 February, with the other matches being shown via the Sky Sports red button digital service, the network's video-on-demand (VOD) platform.
