Latin America's streaming and video-on-demand market has gone through the roof during the last 12 months, with subs growing by 82% since Q3 2013.
According to Dataxis' latest report on OTT, published on NexTV LATAM, the region reached 5.7 million OTT subscribers at the end of Q3 2014, almost doubling year-on-year. The increase can partially be attributed to better broadband and mobile connections throughout the region.
Over 60% of the regional market share currently belongs to Netflix, which enjoys a clearly dominant position in Latin America, where it has a third of its international subs. Although there are several platforms restricted to individual countries, the only operator working throughout the region, in addition to Netflix, is Claro Video, a VOD service operated by América Móvil's DLA.
