NATPE 2015: Globo looks to 4K drama after 50 years of telenovelas

Presenting its new catalogue for 2015 at NATPE in Miami, Brazilian production house Globo has used the opportunity to celebrate the company's 50th year anniversary of drama production, setting its eyes on the future and 4K production.

And this occasion could not be commemorated without you, who in one way or another, have helped us tell a story full of stories," said Ricardo Scalamandré, head of international business at Globo, during the company's event at NATPE.

In addition to titles such as Precious Pearl, winner of International Emmy Award; Empire - which tells the saga of a man who dedicates his life to building a jewellery empire, Helena's Shadow and Now Generation, among other soap operas, Globo presented the new series of Merciless, which was entirely filmed and post-produced with 4K technology.

For the first time, the company used 4K technology in all stages of production, from image capture to the editing and visual effects, being among the first production houses to do that in Brazil.

Globo also presented another innovation in its portfolio: a selection of 12 TV movies, running from 80 to 130 minutes, revisiting series and miniseries produced by the network since the 1980s to the present day.
