Chinese technology manufacturer Huawei and Beijing-based IPTV service provider Global Union Network have formed a partnership to provide an over-the-top (OTT) video service.

The venture will reportedly draw on Huawei's communications expertise, content from Chinese online video giant Youku Tudou, and the integrated broadcast and control platform license from Global Union Network Technology's parent organisation, China International Broadcasting Network (CIBN).
Global Union Network Technology was co-founded in August 2014 by Youku Tudou and Beijing-based new media platform operator Guo Guang Oriental Network, another subsidiary of CIBN.

Huawei has also won bids to provide OTT platform solutions and OTT terminals for telecommunications operators in at least ten provinces of China, including Jiangsu, Anhui, Sichuan, and Jiangxi, according to Marbridge Consulting.
