Zee Entertainment has announced it will launch its new channel &TV in India on Monday 2 March 2015, and with it bring Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan back to the small screen.
The entertainment line-up includes a mix of films and non-fiction shows, including 13th century opus Razia Sultan, sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! family drama Badii Devrani, and an international game show format India Poochega... Sabse Shana Kaun, which marks the return to television of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The flagship property, based on the Who's Asking? format by Israel's Armoza and produced by Big Synergy, will air at 9pm from Monday to Friday. It is said to challenge conventions and give more power to the common man as the 'asker' as well as the 'contestant'.
"It is a unique show that gives merit to the street-smart ones. You might not be a scholar or a master in any field but if you are smart then this game show is for you," explained Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh has previously hosted reality shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain and Zor Ka Jhatka.
"&TV will offer a more substantial viewing experience to an audience that is always seeking fresh and relevant content. The channel extends our Hindi entertainment portfolio under the "&" bouquet and will add to the consolidation of our leading position in the entertainment industry," said Punit Goenka, managing director and CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises.
The much anticipated channel's head of business is Rajesh Iyer, Doris Dey is head of fiction, Sunanda Gupta Jenna is head of non-fiction, and Rachin Khanijo is head of marketing.
