Originally based in Argentina but looking to expand its services throughout Latin American, over-the-top (OTT) and video-on-demand (VOD) platform Qubit will focus on growing across the Caribbean and Andean regions in 2015, controlling the operation from its recently opened office in Bogotá.
According to the company, the deals expected to close in countries including Peru and Colombia will produce over $40 million in income for Qubit, which started operating in the northern area of Latin America by opening an office in the Colombian capital in November 2014.
Qubit also says it will continue to its catalogue by closing content deals with major distributors from Hollywood and independent production houses from the US, Europe and Latin America. The company says it had several meetings during NATPE, held in Miami last week, with Paramount, FOX and Universal, although no concrete deals have yet been unveiled.
Qubit is due to attend Germany's Berlinale in February, the LA Screenings in Los Angeles in May, the Toronto International Film Festival in September and MIPCOM in France October, among other industry events, in a bid to increase its content library.
From its local Bogotá office Qubit is also focusing on achieving partnerships with fixed and mobile telephony companies, cable operators, banks, ISPs, consumer device manufacturers and cooperatives in order to deliver the platform to more customers.
