Australian free-to-air TV network Channel Seven has bought the first four seasons of FremantleMedia International's procedural crime drama Suspects.

Created and produced by FremantleMedia UK's Newman Street for Channel 5 in the UK, the detective series stars Fay Ripley, Damien Molony and Clare-Hope Ashitey.

"Suspects is a real game-changer on the UK drama scene. With a fast pace, high tension storylines and a stellar cast the series is set to be addictive viewing," said Paul Ridley, the senior executive VP of sales and distribution for the Asia Pacific at FremantleMedia International.

The show premiered on Channel 5 in February 2014 and the latest series began transmission earlier in January.

"Suspects is an exciting addition to 7TWO's dominant UK drama slate. We expect Australian audiences will embrace premiere episodes of this addictive new crime drama," said Brook Hall, head of scheduling for digital channels, Channel Seven.
