Targeting Brazilian music fans with over four million songs and video clips, telco GVT is re-launching its over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform.

GVT Music will initially only be available for subscribers to its HD package, and will be streamed on computers and mobile screens. "Consuming music content via streaming is a reality and we want to offer our clients the opportunity to enjoy it everywhere," said GVT's marketing VP, Ricardo Sanfelice.

According to the company, the service, which had been previously available, will now include video-clips and ten different shows a month in order to meet the increasing demand for music-related video content. "We have customised the service for new generations who want to listen, watch and follow artists," added Sanfelice.

Currently, over 50% of the Internet traffic generated by GVT's subs is related to streaming and online video consumption. The company, which is to become a subsidiary of Telefónica in the coming weeks after Brazil's telecom authority green-lit the buyout in December, is also focused on the pay-TV market, in which it will be the country's third biggest operator when merged with Telefónica.
