The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 auction will be televised live by the Sony Six and Six HD channels on 16 February, in addition to being streamed live on iplt20.com.
Auction proceedings – once again conducted by English auctioneer Richard Madley – will commence in Bangalore at 9.30am for the highly anticipated twenty20 cricket tournament.
"The 2015 IPL Player Auction will mark the beginning of the countdown to the eighth season of one of the most popular sporting events on the planet. The auction promises to be eventful," said Ranjib Biswal, chairman, IPL governing council.
"The franchises have returned to the drawing board, reworked plans and devised new strategies over the previous few months. They will have the opportunity to bid for some of the biggest names in the game."
Key players in the auction are Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pieterson and Dinesh Karthik. They were released by their respective franchises and hold the highest base price of INR20 million (US$322,474). The full auction pool will be announced on 4 February.
Meanwhile, bids for IPL media rights in 2015, 2016 and 2017 are due to be evaluated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 3 February 2015.
IPL 2015 will begin on 16 April 2015, following the ICC Cricket World Cup, with a match between Mumbai Indians and the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
