Spain's Comedy Central launches smart TV VOD app

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has announced that Spain's Comedy Central will now be available on Samsung smart TVs through a new app.

In what is the first smart TV launch of Comedy Central which recently replaced Paramount Comedy after 15 years on air - the network will also offer a video-on-demand (VOD) subscription with access to all the channel's series and a premium catalogue of over 1,000 free videos to watch on demand.

The app has been designed and programmed by Valencia-based company Addis, which announced it was working on the project in November 2014. Addis is a group which specialises in information and communication technologies and which has been developing other solutions for Viacom International.

Comedy Central is an essential part of VIMN's strategy for the Spanish market, with its arrival last May aiming to reinforce the network's brand. Acquired by Viacom in 2003, the channel has been launched in Latin America, India, Africa, Southeast Asia as well as the Netherlands, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro in Europe.
