Chinese digital video provider YOU On Demand has acquired the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) rights to a library of movie titles from Twentieth Century Fox.

Films included in the deal include A-Team starring Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson; Black Swan starring Natalie Portman; Master and Commander, starring Russell Crowe; Speed, starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves; and Unstoppable, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.

The Hollywood content will be available to YOU On Demand subscribers in China via mobile, over-the-top (OTT), digital cable and IPTV platforms.
"Twentieth Century Fox's award-winning and blockbuster films demonstrate YOU On Demand's continued commitment to deliver the best premium content to our customers," said Shane McMahon, chairman, YOU On Demand.

Gina Brogi, executive vice president of Worldwide Pay TV & SVOD at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, added: "We are very pleased that this agreement with YOU On Demand will see many of our high quality feature films become accessible to viewers in China via the company's breakthrough SVOD service."

This latest deal follows a spate of premium video deals between US content providers and Chinese service providers. In November 2014, Time Warner's HBO formed a distribution deal with ISP Tencent to give Chinese viewers access to its global hits Game of Thrones and True Detective, among other sought-after shows. Disney has also recently expanded its partnership with Shanghai Media Group include TV content development, film production, marketing cooperation and content distribution.

YOU On Demand, which serves China but is headquartered in New York, already has content distribution agreements with Hollywood's Disney Media Distribution, Paramount Pictures, NBC Universal, Miramax Films, Lionsgate, and Magnolia Pictures, along with a host of Chinese filmmakers.
