Sony claims successful 2014 in Argentina

After re-launching its main networks and feeds across Latin America, Sony Pictures Television Networks has seen growth in some territories, claiming a good last quarter of 2014 in Argentina, where both Canal Sony and AXN scored their best audience figures in a long time.

sptv logoDriven by its refreshed line-up, Canal Sony has reported the best year-on-year audience rates of the last eight years. In addition, AXN got the best prime time share in the last five year and became the ninth most watched network among Argentineans between 25-49.

"It's great to see how our portfolio is succeeding in key markets such as Argentina or Mexico, which underlines the effectiveness of our content strategy, as well as the capacity of our channels to draw young audiences, one of the most valued demographic groups in the region," commented Nathalie Lubensky, senior VP at Sony Pictures Television Latin America.

"We trust the new content coming through 2015 will enable our networks to keep growing and strengthening the presence of our brands in the entertainment scene," she added.

According to IBOPE figures distributed by Sony, Canal Sony increased ratings by over 30% across several socio-economic groups in Argentina, having a solid position in prime time. The audience was drawn by series such as The Blacklist, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and How I Met Your Mother.

AXN also became strong in Argentina's prime time slot thanks to series like Resurrection and HELIX, which drove the channel into the top ten most watched pay-TV networks in the country.
