NHK World TV adds Japanese flavour to TVPlayer

NHK World TV, the English language channel from Japan's public broadcaster, will be available via the UK over-the-top (OTT) service TVPlayer, following a deal between its operator Simplestream and distributor Japan International Broadcasting.

The 24-hour channel includes the network's flagship Newsline show and financial affairs shows such as Asian Voices and Asia This Week, as well as technology, lifestyle and entertainment programming including J-Tech, Great gear, Tokyo Fashion Express, Kawaii International, Sports Japan and Go, Kitchen, Go!

"With NHK World TV now available on TVPlayer across multiple devices, including channel 241 on Freeview, we can now bring a diverse range of quality Japanese programming to the masses here in the UK," said Dan Finch, commercial director, TVPlayer.
