Following the agreement for exclusive rights to Formula One for the whole of Latin America (except Brazil), Spanish production house Mediapro is to launch a network to broadcast the whole championship across the region, including exclusive content and interactive functions.
F1 LATIN AMÉRICA will premiere on 1 March and will offer everything surrounding the competition 24/7. The channel, which is to be sold to pay-TV and pay-per-view platforms throughout the region, will enable viewers to watch the entire F1 championship in high definition.
"This new channel will provide extensive coverage designed to meet even the most demanding viewers' expectations, both in terms of technical quality as well as the interest generated by its wide variety of content," said Gerard Romy, head of international business at Mediapro. "We are backed up by 20 years' experience producing the very best sporting events."
The new network will broadcast 20 hours of live programming every weekend, including F1, GP2 and GP3 Grand Prix events (training sessions, classifications and races), and the pre- and post-Grand Prix events. All this accompanied by analysis, interviews, and reports covering teams and drivers.
The channel will also be available on every screen via the second-screen app, available for Android, iOS and Windows devices. Through the app, viewers will be also able to choose the general camera angle at the circuit or follow the race using the cameras fitted inside driver's helmets.
The announcement follows last year's agreement which enables Mediapro to broadcast its channel until 2019.
