Vuclip, the mobile video-on-demand (VOD) service for emerging markets, is opening a research and development (R&D) centre in Pune, India.
Vuclip expects to hire more than 100 engineers in the next 12 months, including recent college graduates, to the 15,000 square foot centre. The facility will have a laboratory supporting 8,500 different mobile devices from over 200 manufacturers, according to a company statement.
"The technology and consumer demands for mobile video are rapidly evolving and we need sharp minds and nimble feet as we innovate. Pune presents a perfect blend of both experienced technology professionals and an abundance of bright, dynamic and raring-to-go fresh college graduates making it a go to city for technology companies around the country to call their home," said Nickhil Jakatdar, CEO & founder, Vuclip.
"Having grown up in this city, Vuclip's presence in Pune would give me a chance to give back to my alma mater – University of Pune."
