HBO Canada marks Canadian Screen Week with a documentary that celebrates Canadian film and television talent.
Written and directed by Barry Avrich (The Last Mogul), the Women Who Act special is hosted by Canadian filmmaker Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park) as she sits down with four iconic Canadian film and television actresses to talk candidly about their craft. The 72-minute special premieres 28 February on HBO Canada, one day before the Canadian Screen Awards broadcast.
The documentary features interviews with Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding); Ellen Page (Juno); Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black); and Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy).
"[The documentary] is an exclusive look at the fierce, tender, funny and powerful careers of four of our most outstanding actresses," said Helga Stephenson, CEO at the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. "An award-winning director herself, Patricia takes us truly behind-the-camera."
In Eastern Canada, the special will be available on The Movie Network (TMN) GO and HBO Canada OnDemand. In Western Canada, it will be available on the go with the Shaw Go Movie Central app, Bell TV app, Telus Optik on the go, and HBO Canada On Demand.
