PVR pioneer TiVo has announced gains of 340,000 net total substitutions in the fourth quarter.
The gains included 16,000 new TiVo-owned subs and 324,000 via cable MSOs and other pay-TV partners. TiVo ended its fiscal year with almost 5.47 million subs, or about 1.3 million more than a year earlier.
The company also revealed that it plans to use the assets it bought from Aereo last week to bolster its new Roamio OTA digital video recorder, which is aimed at cord-cutters.
"Operators are saying we have to figure out a way for our broadband-only customers to relate to video," TiVo CEO Tom Rogers told the New York Post. "And they're thinking our OTA [over-the-air] devices could be an interesting way to do that."
Last week, TiVo announced a deal to provide the Roamio OTA to Frontier Communications for deployment in broadband-only homes.
For its fiscal 2015 fourth quarter ended 31 January 2015, the company reported revenue of $114 million, well beating Wall Street expectations.
