Pay-TV consolidation continues: Charter Communications is in talks to acquire Bright House Networks, according to reports.
The news comes as the AT&T-DirecTV and Comcast-Time Warner Cable mergers await regulatory approval. Charter was outbid last year by Comcast in its effort to buy TWC, and has been pursuing plan B with Bright House ever since, according to Bloomberg. Both sides are said to have agreed on a potential all-stock deal, according to unnamed sources, that could be valued at about $12 billion.
Syracuse, New York-based Bright House is the sixth-largest US cable company, with about 2.5 million cable subscribers.
