German cable operator NetCologne has increased the maximum download data rate of its internet access service from 100 to 200Mbps.

The upload speed was more than quadrupled to 40Mbps. The high-speed service is available customers from 39.90 per month.

With the new offering, NetCologne catches up with its local competitor Unitymedia Kabel BW who is already providing a 200Mbps service.

Unitymedia Kabel BW wants to increase the data rate to 250Mbps soon with 400Mbps planned by the end of the year.
