Having acquired international television rights to the companion series even before its official title was released, AMC Global has revealed that it will premier Fear The Walking Dead exclusively and globally.
To be broadcast later in 2015, the new series, which, like the original, is produced by AMC Studio with Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert from the original international hit The Walking Dead as executive producers. Dave Erickson, who co-created and co-wrote the pilot with Kirkman, is an executive producer and show-runner. The new series will be set in Los Angeles, focusing on new characters and storylines. The show's first season will consist of six, one-hour episodes and premiere on AMC later this year. The show's second season will air in 2016.
As alredy stated, AMC plans to air each episode within 24 hours of its US premiere. AMC Global, the international AMC-branded television network, launched in late 2014 and is available in over 115 countries and territories. AMC US has picked up the series for two seasons.
"We're thrilled to bring audiences worldwide Fear The Walking Dead within 24 hours of the US premiere so that fans can experience the excitement of one of the year's most anticipated new dramas together exclusively on AMC Global," commented AMC and Sundance Channel Global President Bruce Tuchman. "AMC has created some of the most compelling programming on television in recent years, and this new show will perfectly complement the popular films and exclusive original series showcased on the network."
