Thailand's BEC World is refreshing three of its four TV channels, including the flagship free-to-air (FTA) Channel 3 – bringing more international content and forging local production partnerships.
Chhota Bheem POGOFrom the end of March 2015, Channel 3 will host a two-hour programming block of Turner Broadcasting's POGO children's content, broadcast in Thai on weekday evenings and weekend mornings.
POGO, which Turner launched in India in 2004, provides a mixture of animated and live action programmes, including M.A.D. (a show about music, art and dance), science show F.A.Q., and animation Chhota Bheem.
"We are excited to bring the POGO brand to Thailand for the first time and local audiences are going to love it. The deal is a result of a great partnership – Channel 3 is one of the country's most watched channels and Turner is a world leader in curating and creating content, with an impressive track record in delivering viewers in Thailand," said Surin Krittiyaphongphun, executive vice president, BEC World.
"We're also looking forward to seeing how the brand evolves and develops in the coming months," she added.
As part of the revamp, more sports content is to be aired on the digital entertainment channel 3SD. The qualifiers for the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament and MotoGP motorcycle racing will be shown in prime time.
The POGO block will air on the Family Channel 13 from 4pm-6pm on weekdays and 7am-9am on weekends.
The tie-up is another example of how Turner is creating "local viewing solutions", said Phil Nelson, senior vice president and managing director, North Asia and Southeast Asia Pacific, Turner International Asia Pacific, as he welcomed the partnership.
