A Disney toy-video catalogue, Taylor Swift and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon all topped the monthly Tubefilter Top 100 Most Viewed YouTube Channels index for February.
According to Tubefilter (with data provided by OpenSlate), DisneyCollectorBR retained the No 1 spot and racked up more than 427.73 million views during the short 28-day month. The online video catalogue, which features the latest and greatest in popular children's toys, held onto its position despite seeing a 17% decrease in views from January.
Taylor Swift's music video library saw a 1% increase to top out just shy of 363.9 million views, placing the star at No 2. And, the Tonight Show claimed the No 3 spot with almost 320.9 million views.
Jimmy Fallon's late-night outpost was also the top gainer for the month, with a 92% month-over-month increase in views. That was driven by a Saved by the Bell reunion, an uncanny Britney Spears impression from Christina Aguilera, and a laundry list of appearances by popular celebrities.
Rounding out the top five was LittleBabyBum and its repository of classic songs for kids, which saw a 5% uptick to reach 315.9 million views, and mashamedvedtv, which is home to the popular Russian cartoon Маша и Медведь which was up 7% on the month to claim more than 308 million views.
Interestingly, one YouTube superstar, PewDiePie channel, tumbled out of the top five with a negative view count during February 2015 numbering in the hundreds of millions.
"That could be an error on behalf of YouTube or it could be the result of a legitimate view count audit," Tubefilter explained. "The world's largest video sharing site sometimes makes mistakes when tallying view counts and then later may take away views from a channel if the company finds a miscalculation."
