Presto will be the only subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Australia to offer full seasons of The Walking Dead, Foxtel has announced.

From today (3 April), the first three seasons of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic zombie drama can be viewed by subscribers of the Foxtel / Seven West Media online video joint venture, with the fourth season being added on 14 April. The fifth season will be available to Presto TV and Presto Entertainment subscribers later this year.

The finale of season five of The Walking Dead drew an estimated 20 million US viewers and aired in Australia on Foxtel's FX channel on 30 March.

"We know The Walking Dead is a pop culture phenomenon and one of the biggest must-see-dramas series of our generation and has been highly sought after by every subscription on demand service in Australia," said Shaun James, director of Presto and Foxtel video-on-demand.

"The fact that Presto is the exclusive SVOD home of complete seasons of the series is a testament to our commitment to securing the best global content available and our focus on assembling one of the strongest content offerings and most agile services available anywhere in the world."

Foxtel TV customers that subscribe to the FX channel and have access to Foxtel's Anytime service will also be able to watch seasons one, two, three and five of The Walking Dead from 3 April, with season 4 available from 14 April.
