Accuweather debuts StoryTeller for jazzing up local news content

AccuWeather is introducing the StoryTeller interactive platform for local news operations, aimed at helping them liven up their broadcasts with dynamic content.
StoryTeller can incorporate user-generated content (UGC), localised social media engagement and audience polling and feedback for weather, news and traffic broadcasts.
The platform integrates with AccuWeather's MinuteCast system, used by local TV station meteorologists to provide minute-by-minute updates, so that crews can feature "on the scene" UGC weather video, for instance.
In addition, StoryTeller offers a few enhanced apps for going beyond weather, like a social media app with local search capabilities to offer a local story angle on trending topics. And, an enhanced polling app offers real-time audience feedback with graphics capabilities.
Meanwhile traffic functionality integrates 3D modelling, and the system can support drone HD video integration for aerial live-stream video.

"People are consuming more digital content than ever before through mobile phones, tablets, wearables and other connected devices. To stay ahead of the competition and rapid transformational changes, local TV stations must revolutionise traditional media models by bringing a new experience to their broadcasts."
