DISH Network has rebranded its multilingual over-the-top (OTT) service, DishWorld, as Sling International.
The rebranding dovetails with the brand identity of its domestic English-language OTT effort, Sling TV, and the service will now use the same interface/app for a consistent look and feel. As such, the move means that Sling International will now run on browsers, the Amazon Fire TV box and Fire TV Stick, Roku players, Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, and the Xbox One.
Sling International also added three new language groups to its programming slate (Bengali, Kannada and Marathi) which now offers nearly 200 channels in 18 languages to US consumers for $15 per month.
"Sling TV grew from the foundation established by DishWorld, enabling us to test, grow and perfect our OTT capabilities through a service that streams tens of millions of hours of content every month," said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. "Incorporating DishWorld into the Sling TV portfolio makes it even easier for viewers to get the best of both domestic programming and the shows and sports they love from overseas."
