Content giant HBO has launched its TV everywhere platform HBO GO on Android devices for Latin America, enabling more mobile devices to screen its over-the-top (OTT) and video-on-demand (VOD) content through second screens.
HBO GO2HBO GO, which is the leading TV everywhere platform in Latin America, offers in the region over 2,000 on-demand titles among series, films, documentaries and kids' content, including Game of Thrones or Boardwalk Empire.
The service also allows mobility within the region, meaning, for instance, that an Argentinian sub can watch the content in Colombia without any geographical restriction.
All devices with Android 2.3 or later will be able to install the app through Google Play, enabling HBO/MAX subs in Latin America to watch their favourite content at any time and everywhere.
"Looking to the great percentage of Android users in the region, this launch was the undoubted next step in HBO GO's expansion, enabling more subs to enjoy our content,' pointed out Dionne Bermudez, digital distribution VP at HBO Latin America.
"Due to the new consumption habits, it's important we create a multiplatform offer and promote mobility and flexibility when it comes to content consumption", added Bermudez. "This way, we continue growing, innovating and reaching new markets and users".
In addition to Android, the platform has been launched for iOS devices and Xbox 360 through Xbox Live.
