The French channel Non Stop People has announced the launch of a Spanish version which will air from 1 June on Telefónica's Movistar TV.

Coming only 30 months after the launch of the Banijay Group channel in France, the move marks a new step in the international expansion of Non Stop People. Following the same format as the French channel, the Spanish version will have an editorial team of 30 journalists and its own studio in the centre of Madrid. Over 60 people in total will be employed by the new channel which will produce its own content.

Non Stop People Spain will offer news on international and Hispanic stars, 24/7, and will be overseen by Jose Manuel Lorenzo, president of Banijay Spain and former managing director of Canal+.

"We are very proud of the launch of Non Stop People in Spain. It demonstrates the strength and relevance of our original concept, and its international potential," commented Hugues Dangy, president and founder of the channel. "The possibilities that we are opening up for the Hispanic market are huge and we intend to capitalise on the expertise of our Spanish teams to accelerate our global development."

"This is a fantastic opportunity to launch Non Stop People in Spain, the straight-forward concept of Non Stop People – to cover 24/7 celebrity news, both local and international – had instant appeal to Telefonica," commented Jose Manuel Lorenzo, president of Non Stop People Spain. "We have put in place a strong editorial team to attract the young Movistar TV audience. I am certain that our new channel will quickly find its place in the market and the next step in our development will be a move into Latin America in the near future."
