Turner Broadcasting System is launching its children's channel Boing in Africa next month on the Nigerian pay-TV platform Montage and Mobile TV in South Africa.

Aimed at kids aged four to 14, the channel includes shows such as Dexter's Laboratory, Angelo Rules, Johnny Bravo, Code Name: Kids Next Door and Dragons: Riders of Berk. Episodes from the classic franchises Batman and Thundercats will also feature.

"We are thrilled to be bringing Boing to Africa as it will diversify the programmes currently made available to our younger clientele and we are certain they will enjoy this new exciting experience. We believe this is the first step to expanding our brands to all African families," said Pierre Branco, vice president and general manager of Turner Southern Europe and Africa.

Ahead of its African launch on 30 May, Turner has already launched the Boing brand in Italy, France, Spain and Turkey.

The company said deals are in discussion with other African direct-to-home (DTH) satellite, digital terrestrial TV (DTT), IPTV and mobile platforms in Kenya, Ghana, Zambia and Tanzania.
