Next week, HBO GO is set to launch as a standalone OTT service in Hong Kong, the first time the digital service will be available in Asia without a TV-package subscription.
The service will debut 13 April, giving users access to HBO and CINEMAX content via smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices. HBO GO can be downloaded from iTunes for iOS, or from Google Play for Android.
"The standalone OTT HBO GO service in Hong Kong now offers any viewer with an internet connection access to their favorite HBO and CINEMAX Original content," said Jonathan Spink, CEO of HBO Asia. "HBO GO offers subscribers more choice and control over what they want to watch, when they want to watch it, and across multiple devices, whether at home or on the go."
This is the latest in a string of OTT moves from HBO, including the HBO Now service in the US and its original standalone effort, in the Nordics.
