The Montenegrin station Prva TV, which like its sister station of the same name in Serbia is backed by Greeceís Antenna Group, has taken legal action against the publisher and broadcaster Vijesti.

Balkan Insight reports that its decision to do so was on the grounds that Zeljko Ivanovic, Vijestiís director, had made false and derogatory statements that had damaged Prva TVís reputation and business.

Specifically, Prva TV claims that Ivanovic had asked the US embassy in Montenegro to pressurise government bodies not to issue it with an operating licence.

Prva TV is understood to be close to the Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, while Vijestiís TV station is largely funded by Serbian money.
