French lifestyle channel TV5Monde Style HD will broadcast free-to-air across Asia, the Middle East and Africa via AsiaSat and Arabsat, the regional satellite operators have announced.

In addition, pay-TV platform My-HD, also carried by Arabsat, will feature the new channel for its subscribers across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

"Arabsat has been our long standing partner since we launched in 1998 the first TV5Monde channel to the Arab world, TV5Monde Maghreb-Orient. We are excited to further expand our partnership with Arabsat with this new thematic HD channel," said Yves Bigot, CEO of TV5Monde.

"We look forward to introducing Arab viewers to the best 'art of living' programming from TV5Monde productions and our French-speaking partners' channels on one of the Arab world's leading TV satellites."

Nabil Alshanti, VP and CCO, Arabsat, added: "This channel will help us reinforce our leadership of the free-to-air HD video neighbourhood which will enable us to offer Arabsat viewers across the Middle East and North Africa an extensive offering of the best free-to-air international and regional HD channels on Arabsat hotspot at 26 East".

In Asia, TV5Monde Style HD has begun 24-hour satellite transmissions via AsiaSat 5, located at 100.5 East.

The first TV5MONDE channel for Asia, TV5Monde Asie, was launched in conjunction with AsiaSat in 1996. This latest channel features programming covering fashion, luxury and design trends, food and drink, gardening, architecture, cultural and historical heritage. In Asia, the channel's content is broadcast in French with subtitles in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
