Taiwan's production industry is taking its most successful soap opera in recent years to the Latin American market, following an agreement for La Esposa Valiente, dubbed into Spanish, to air in several countries of the region.

"The soap opera will be airing in Nicaragua this month, landing afterwards in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Paraguay," Vanessa Shih, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs in Taiwan, explained to EFE. The ministry has supported the Latin American launch of the national production.

"We are very thrilled and looking forward to visit the countries in which the soap opera is about to air," added Sonia Sui, one of the stars of the show, which also features James Wen, Chris Wang and Amanda Zhu.

According to EFE, La Esposa Valiente was a controversial series in Taiwan, as it deals with relationships out of marriage and analyses the feminine figure in Taiwan's modern society, where gender inequality is still rife.

Both in Taiwan and in Japan, where was also popular, the soap opera, produced by local TV network Sanlih, has been awarded several prizes since it premiered in 2011.
