Enabling IPTV and over-the-top (OTT) viewers to be able to watch the Google service on households' main set, Amino's devices now support YouTube on TVs.
The company's A150/A550 and Live Advanced Media Platform device series have both completed certification approval and will now include the YouTube on TV HTML5 application. The new feature will be available in the latest software release for Amino customers from the end of April 2015.
Viewers will be able to move between pay-TV and YouTube on TV to discover and watch their videos and channels. An Amino API allows integration with a range of middleware solutions, enabling operators to add YouTube on TV capability to their existing TV pay-TV offering. Where supported by the middleware, viewers can use DIAL (Discovery and Launch) capability to cast their chosen content from a smartphone or tablet on to the main TV.
"This is a major value added enhancement to our portfolio and underlines the power and capability our devices now have to handle exciting and innovative new HTML5 features like YouTube on TV," commented Amino CEO Donald McGarva. "It's also very closely aligned with operator demand for premium content capability from their devices and we believe this will be warmly welcomed by our customers."
