Telekom Austria saw its net income more than double year-on-year in the first quarter, up from €40.8 million to €92.7 million.

However, its revenues were down by 2% to €956 million (€975.9 million in Q1 2014), though EBITDA rose by 7.2% to €334.6 million.

In its home market, the telco saw its fixed broadband and TV subscriber totals in Q1 grow by 5.2% and 6.6% respectively on the same period last year.

In Bulgaria, its TV operations noted a much stronger growth in subscriber numbers. Driven mainly by DTH promotions, they rose by 25.8% over the year.

On the other hand, the customer growth in broadband and TV year on year was 25.5% and 7.4% respectively.

Commenting on the results, Hannes Ametsreiter, CEO Telekom Austria Group and A1, said: “We are currently optimising our operating business, we think twice about every cent we spend and we are streamlining the Telekom Austria Group to bring it back to its growth path. These joint efforts are clearly reflected in the strong net profit of €92.7 million. At the same time, we continue to offer our customers the best quality in terms of infrastructure, products and services. By investing in the broadband rollout, we are creating the basis to be able to supply even more customers and to offer even better products going forward”.
