Further corporate news from broadcast technology provider ARRIS, which has now completed the acquisition of ActiveVideo in a deal valued at approximately $135 million.
ActiveVideo’s flagship product is the CloudTV cloud-based software platform that is designed to enable service providers, content aggregators and consumer electronic (CE) manufacturers to deploy new services by virtualising consumer premises equipment (CPE) functions in the cloud. CloudTV also supports the delivery of next-gen user interfaces, online content, and interactive advertising for TV to set-tops and connected devices.
With the transaction complete, ARRIS now owns 65% of the joint venture company it formed with Charter Communications. ActiveVideo will operate independently of both, with ARRIS serving as the sales channel for ActiveVideo's CloudTV platform outside sales to Charter with Jeff Miller continuing to lead as ActiveVideo CEO.
