Effective as of 1 July, Emilio Rubio will step in as CEO of HBO Latin America, replacing Gaston Comas, who assumed the role in 2000 and who will remain with the company as an independent board member.
"Under Gaston's leadership, the company experienced a period of significant growth, consolidating its position as the leading entertainment company in Latin America and the first in developing original programming in the region," said Simon Sutton, president of HBO International. "We are pleased he will remain an active member of the board and a continued source of direction, perspective, and encouragement."
"The board and I have worked very closely over the last few years as we structured this succession plan," explained Comas. "For more than two decades, Emilio has been a strategic force behind the success that our company has enjoyed."
With more than 20 years at HBO Latin America, Rubio has led the affiliate sales and distribution teams, developing new lines of business and introducing new media, expanding to new markets and introducing new technologies, including the launch of the networks' signals in HD and the deployment of HBO GO in the region
