After launching the app over two years ago, Spanish video-on-demand (VOD) platform Filmin has decided to move onto Android devices, launching a refreshed app which works on most smartphones and tablets as well as on Google's Chromecast.

Aiming to increase its presence with mobile and connected video consumers, and after previously running solely on iOS devices, Filmin is finally becoming available on Spain's largest operating system. Google's operating system owns over 86% of smartphones and tablets, according to the latest figures, while Apple products are used by nine out of 100 consumers.

Initially, Filmin's Android app will be supported by Samsung, LG, Nexus, BQ, Motorola, Sony, HTC, Alcatel, Huawei and ZTE devices. It will also be available for Chromecast, the Google dongle which transforms a regular TV into smart TV, linking and displaying smartphone and tablet content through an HDMI port.

The new app includes a catalogue with over 8,000 movies and series on-demand, including classic films and premieres both from the Spanish scene and international independent producers. The app has also added a refreshed search tool, which broadens the user's search options.
