Sharp will begin shipping in July its latest AQUOS 4K NEXT (8K resolution) Ultra HD LCD televisions, complete with Espial's HTML5 Client software.
The new TV sets, initially available in Japan, will incorporate over-the-top (OTT) video services and Internet applications, including the new Hybridcast system, the new YouTube 2015 HTML5 app, HULU, NTT Hikari TV 4K HEVC video-on-demand (VOD) service, and 4K Web browser.
Second-screen devices, such as smart phones or tablets, work as companion devices to the TV, displaying related information from the Internet. They can also be used as remote controls.
"Sharp's 2015 AQUOS 4K NEXT TV represents a true leap forward in viewing experience, thanks to their incredible 8K equivalent UltraHD video and leading innovations," said Jaison Dolvane, CEO, Espial.
"We're honoured to be working with Sharp, a true world-leader in consumer electronics, to bring the best of television combined with the best of the Internet to Sharp's customers."
The Sharp AQUOS 4K TV sets are capable of streaming video from the Internet, and serve as a gaming device (G-cluster). Content from mobile devices can also be displayed wirelessly in 4K clarity.
