LiveU, provider of IP-based live video services and broadcast solutions, is supporting the live broadcast of the Copa América 2015, one of the most followed sporting events in Latin America, taking place in Chile from 11 June to 4 July.

Broadcasters from eight nations will leverage more than 80 of LiveU's video transmission devices, including LiveU's new LU200 cellular-bonding and encoding units, making it the first time the recently-launched product will be used during a premier Latin America event.

Broadcasters from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru, Honduras, Ecuador and the US are using the LU200, among other LiveU devices. Weighing just over 500g, the LU200 opens new live coverage opportunities at a similar price to a single channel solution but with greater resiliency and superior video quality. LiveU units are managed and controlled by an unified, cloud-based management platform, which enables fleets of units to be centrally controlled from anywhere using a browser or a mobile device.

“We are very excited about deploying the LU200 to cover this year's tournament,” said Yesid Guerra of Caracol TV in Colombia. "By using LiveU, we can provide our viewers with high-quality content and the live coverage they expect with more flexibility in the field, in any country around the world”.

“This deployment is a significant one for the LU200, given the importance of this tournament in the Latin America market”, added Giovanni Punzo, LiveU's VP of sales LATAM. “We are eager to see these major broadcasters experience first-hand the distinct advantage that the LU200 provides both as an ultra-portable cellular-bonding device and as a video encoder, and look forward to supporting more worldwide sporting events in the future”.
