Aiming to become more user-friendly and deliver more video content, Spain's national broadcaster RTVE has re-launched its website setting a focus on mobile devices, live streaming and social TV integration.
Through RTVE Digital, the unit behind video-on-demand platforms RTVE A La Carta and Botón Rojo, the broadcaster says that it will meet the challenges driven by the new ways of watching content. Indeed, over half of 20 million unique users of RTVE's website during last few months came through mobile devices.
RTVE's share of mobile video consumption has rocketed since January 2015, leading Spain's figures hand to hand with Mediaset.
"As half of users surf on mobile devices, we have created a new website which is very friendly for smartphones and tablets, more visual and spectacular", explained Alejandro Vega, director of RTVE Digital .
The responsive site also aims to power mobile video consumption, betting on the over 50,000 VOD contents and 70,000 on-demand audio already available online.
In addition, the new site will enable users to share content across the social media, powering social TV activities and personalised features to be implemented within few weeks.
Intending to fill up the new platform with proper mobile content, RTVE, through Factoría Digital, will produce online formats looking to audience participation and young viewers.
