Independent production company Lambent has struck a development deal with Banijay, allowing it a first look option on all new factual programming plus international distribution rights.

Following the agreement, Banijay International will provide market information, finance and global know-how to help Lambent explore the international potential of shows in development.

The UK independent production company, based in Brighton, is currently in production for Channel 5 on the Special Needs Hotel – a documentary series that follows staff aged 16-24 with a range of disabilities working at the commercially operational Foxes Hotel.

"With our production and development slate across factual and specialist factual continuing to grow and our first major commission for a US network on the horizon, we're excited to take Lambent to the next level through this partnership with Banijay International. We look forward very much to working with the team at Banijay to develop our international focus," said Ollie Tait, managing director, Lambent Productions.

Emmanuelle Namiech, managing director, Banijay International, added: "Lambent produces exceptionally strong human interest content, which fits extremely well with our growing content portfolio of factual and factual entertainment programming."
