Magic Leap has appointed Rio Caraeff as the company's chief content officer.
Caraeff served as the president and CEO of Vevo, which he co-founded in 2009. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years in technology, strategy and new business across all areas of entertainment for companies including Universal Music Group, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Sony Digital Media Ventures, Sony Music Entertainment and Capitol Records Group.
In this newly-created role at Magic Leap, Caraeff will be responsible for the development, operations and business management of the company's cloud-based ecosystem and media network.
"My head exploded when I first experienced what the Magic Leap team was working on," Caraeff said. "It is certainly the most exciting development in media and technology that I've ever seen, which is why I had to do whatever it takes to join the talented team that Rony has assembled. Building out the network of services, applications and content experiences to bring some magic into the world is the mission and I could not be more thrilled to join."
