Singtel adds 18 channels to pay-TV service

Singtel TV has added an array of international channels to its digital cable TV platform, with US, Indian, Filipino, UK and Japanese content all part of its enhanced service.
Seven Discovery HD channels are being added, namely Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Discovery HD World, Discovery Science, DMAX, Eve and TLC.
Five Indian regional channels, broadcast in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, will also be added to the pay-TV platform.
Tamil channel Astro Vinmeen HD, Telugu channels Gemini TV and Gemini Movies, and the Maveli channel pack for Malayalam speakers will include 24-hour movie channel Kiran TV and Surya TV.
Mezzo Live HD will bring classical music, opera, ballet and jazz to subscribers, while UK drama and entertainment channel ITV Choice (HD) will also make its debut in Singapore via Singtel TV this July.
WAKUWAKU JAPAN will showcase Japanese series, movies, anime, documentaries and more when the channel airs from 6 July. Filipino viewers can, meanwhile, enjoy the addition of The Filipino Channel, ABS-CBN Sports + Action, and Lifestyle Network to Singtel TV.
"We are constantly looking to improve and expand the entertainment options for our customers," said Goh Seow Eng, MD for home and consumer Singapore at Singtel.
"In the past year, we have added almost 50 channels. But it is not just about quantity – we seek to offer a breadth of content so that our diverse audience will always find content that appeals to them."
The Discovery channels and Japanese channel will be available without charge until 31 August, while the Indian, UK and Filipino channels are available for free preview until 30 July.
Singtel TV – previously known as SingTel mio TV – now offers 190 channel and on-demand movies.
