E-commerce giant Alibaba has unveiled plans to collaborate with DMG Entertainment and Hunan Satellite Television to deliver films, TV and gaming content to the latter's six million cable TV subscribers.
The new service, planned for distribution through Alibaba's T-Mall platform, will mark the first bundled mobile, Internet and cable TV entertainment package to be offered in China.
The plans, lodged with the Shenzen Stock Exchange, do not disclose a launch date for the triple-play service.
The news follows Alibaba's June announcement that it planned to launch an online video streaming service, Tmall Box Office (TBO), which will offer content from China and abroad. Alibaba proposes to provide about 90% of TBO's content on a monthly subscription or pay-per-view basis.
